I was setting up a new system and went to a local nursery and purchased a trailer load of pea gravel.  The gravel really looked good, a mix ranging from 1/4" down to almost sand sized.  My wife and I…Continue

How did you find us?
Searching for Aquaponic articles on the internet..
Are you an aquaponic gardener already?
Just starting.
If so, what type of system? (pick all that apply)
Have a 255 gal fish tank sunk in the ground outside my greenhouse. Greenhouse is a recycled portable garage frame like they sell at Sam's. Added wooden framing, plastic, and shade cloth. Have my aquaponic grow beds down the middle and my Flood Tank located at one end up high. Grow beds are 2 ea. 55 gal drums split in half and filled with pea gravel. Looking to find fish today; would prefer Tilapia, but may have to settle for Catfish. My test fish, a perch caught in our pond has survived a week, so guess it is fairly safe to introduce more fish.
Please tell us something else about yourself.
We live in a thriving metropolis called Ben Wheeler, TX. It may be small, but something is always going on. The latest addition is a reproduction of the old time "Moon Pie" and RC Cola billboard. Looks great.

It automatically logged me as Lake Hills, which is near Medina Lake, but I am actually in Pipe Creek, northwest of San Antonio. Teach at UTSA and we have nine acres and a green house here. Wanting to get something set up for the two of us. We have a small greenhouse that we were trying to decide how to use, so we will use it to hold the fish tank. Concerned about how cold it gets in the winter as we are 1800 feet up on the side of a hill. I'll pipe lines out to the planting beds and return lines back. Still reading.
