Please tell us something else about yourself.: I am researching as much information on aquaponic systems as possible to build my own system once I move on to a bigger property. I hope to grow Australian native species such as trout, barramundi, perch and crustaceans like yabbies and marron (both are like freshwater crayfish). I hope to incorporate a combination of raft and media grow beds based on the varieties of vegetables I plan on growing. I am a seasoned gardener in the conventional sense however I am becoming more water conscious as Australia has precious little water to spare with current climate changes. The research I have done thus far on yabbies and marron are that they require approximately 4 tanks to separate sexes, berried up females and juveniles. IBC's are perfect for this application. The last area I wish to research is the application of salt water aquaponics and develop viable plant companions for this system.
