- I am fascinated with aquaponics. Searched on youtube for turning a swimming pool into koi pond and came across aquaponics. I started a small system in July with some bait fish and then feeder goldfish. they all died during the start up and a mistake I made. I now have 6 feeder goldfish that doubled in size. I am growing peas (2 plants flourishing), corn (2 plants approx 4 ft tall), lettuce (several). We already ate some lettuce. I can't believe that so much plantlife can come out of some goldfish flake food.
