My lab is my back yard. At this point I'm digging a rather large hole and getting ready to pour footings to go under a 7' X 7' Poly carbonate greenhouse. Was hoping to be done before cold weather but didn't make it. I intend to put four 55 gallon barrels of water under the floor to serve as a thermal mass that I will heat primarily with a solar-thermal panel. I want to put my fish tank on the floor above the barrels and so have that volume to act as additional mass to retain heat. I intend to use a rocket stove as an additional heat source. I intend to build a second, larger greenhouse with re-purposed pallets and salvaged windows. I'm toying with hugelculture mounds as well, maybe located along the sides of the greenhouses to insulate and use the heat from their composting action to hopefully warm the ground adjacent to my underground thermal sink. What do you think? I want to make sure I can keep this warm so I don't kill fish before I stock a fish tank.

That would be great Chris. I'm still in the design and construction phase of my first project but I am very interested in making this work and becoming more self sufficient. Swapping ideas etc. would be great.
