These are for worm colonies in growbeds. The idea being to create a place to have an ongoing worm colony that you can feed scraps to when you prune. Of course they will migrate out into the beds as well. I'm working on throwing the lids now. These are hard fired ceramic. (Yes, they are upside down) Comments?

How those look great!, How long did it take to turn them?

My mother was a professional ceramicist back east, had her own shop, and I was always around it.

Do you think if they were glazed it would make for easy cleanup later?
Plus they will not break down if sealed, right?

Can't wait to hear how they work out.

What about a local ceramic shop?
Ask them to pour some greenware vases extra thick and do the same?

Just my 2 cents, Love the idea,

Jeff

I always love it when the things I'm interested in show up in unexpected places! I was a potter/ceramic artist in a past life.

The idea is really great - have you tried any of them out yet?

Yeah, I made them. Threw a basic shape on the wheel and then drilled the holes. Fired to cone 04, (for those of you that are into it). I'm looking at some glazes, and will have lids for them soon. Even though they are terra cotta, I'm sure they won't break down as they are fired to a vitreous state. Will report on the results after I have them established in the beds.

Great thing! You make them yourself?
