I got lucky and found this at the habitat for humanity store for 10
bucks. I put the thermocouple in heat shrink with a stainless bolt on the
end for weight.

It is a thermostat that I found at the habitat for humanity re-store store in Victoria. Cost 8 bucks. It can control 2 relays in heat or cool mode and has one ten foot temperature sensor built in. I am using it to control the stainless steel deep fryer element that I converted to a tank heater. It is working well, it will get down to 32F tonight, but my water will hold at 72F. I normally run at 70F but I turn it up on cold cold nights like tonight because it warms under the blanket better.
