From using the concrete mixing tubs I can see how a deeper bed would be better. One foot depth of grow bed. While I still am using the mixing tubs I will eventually go deeper when I build and outside system. My local HD store only recently got the larger size mixing tubs which are much bettrer with flood and drain than the smaller size mixing tubs. You really can't beat the price of the larger mixing tubs either.

You will need one more container or tub if you want to keep your 100g tank at a constant height. The simple flood and drain style system has a varying water level.

Of course I need to set it all up as constant height in fish tank.

Me too. I lived in FL for 10 years but moved to Michigan. I am having to learn how to make my system small and flexible so I can bring it inside in winter and take it outside in the summer (if I decide to).  I am still assembling items for my basement aquaponic effort, but I have used the mixing tub like you are using for vermicomposting and I think it will work well for indoor aquaponics. I think 3 of the larger mixing tubs for grow beds and a a 100 gallon fish tank will work well for my basement.

Thanks Brian! It has been slow progress but there is still progress so I can't complain. I dream of aquaponics and green houses!!
