Currently there is no settling in the system except for the end of the raceways, where we have a 1 meter long section before a top mounted weir.  This is insufficient.  We are currently trying to find a remedy that fits our system.

i like to see the roots clean like the pic you posted , how big is the settling tank on ur system?

I'm guessing you ment shrimp.  While we have a crayfish species here that will tolerate 12-16 C water, I do not know of any commercial shrimp that will work.  Especially when you ask the Department of Nautral Resources about bringing in a nonnative shrimp.  The problem with crayfish is that they tend to lop off all the roots from the tray down.

try introducing shrips under ur rafts so the help you clean those roots
