System has evolved a bit.  Cement blocks to hold up grow bed now replaced by recycle industrial steel shelf cut down, repainted and bolted together. Control valves now positioned differently. Everything cut and assembled. Now I need to start gluing it all together.  Yikes!

Here's my schema for a small basement system developed with Murray Hallam's input. Tank, sump and grow bed based on Rubbermaid Ag tanks: 100 gal for fish, 50 gal for sump and grow bed. Question now is type and size of pump. Figure I need a pump around 300-400gph and magnetic impeller with epoxy coated metal housing, etc. Head less than 4 ft. OR what about in-line pump mounted above sump tank with a submersible12 volt back-up? Anyone have any experience with solar charged battery back up?
