How you choose to hang your planter is up to you. I prefer to drill four 1/16" holes around the cap (1" down from the top) and twist in simple cup hooks in order to give me 4 support points. Be sure to put a matching mark on the planter body and the cap so you know that your holes in both pieces are always lined up correctly if you have to take off the cap and put it back on.
