The plant in the picture may be beautiful and healthy, but the plant is actually the problem...The MaxGFX V-Planter is intended to address the issue of growing plants in aquaponics or hydroponics that are bulky and need tied up or staked. For example, tomatoes, peppers and beans. Depending on the variety of tomato, they can require up to 9 square feet (3x3 feet) and still need tied up or staked. However, with the MaxGFX V-Planter, this can be reduced to 4 square feet (2x2 feet) with no need for external support. Gravity does the work for you!
I don't let them get any more than 4 or 5 feet long. Better to force them to produce fruit than excessive leaves and branches. Never had the stalk break off, they seem to develop extremely strong stalks grown this way.
Interesting concept. Do you have a pick with the tomato plant grown upside down in full swing such as 6-10 feet hanging? I'd believe it would just break off being too heavy. I'd suppose you've done upside down strawberries too?
