the copper coil is coated with clear enamel. its about 100 microns thick. you can see that the copper in the water is still very new looking and yet it has been in use for a long time. no water is inside the piping. the pipes are filled with refrigerant r404a. i do lose some of the heat transfer with the enamel coating. but thats the cost of having to protect the fish from the copper.
