The blue floater is a tank de-icer, it just barely keeps a ice free circle on the top.
The Great Pyrinese puppy doeesn't mind the fish taste.The fish will be my first in the system this spring.
I was given the idea from the ranchers here. They do dryland wheat just a few miles from here- about 800 feet higher on top of the caprock. Just a few miles means about 4 more inches per year of rain.(and 4 inches of soil!)

we keep tank goldfish too- (inlaws are dryland wheat farmers with some lifestock) to keep down the algae. it's amazing how tough they are.
