Cool - thanks Jeff! I think I'll add some fingerlings to my swirl filter.
Here is a pic looking into my latest SF:As you can see it just has a 90 at the inlet that sets up the swirl action and a T with a 45 at the bottom which traps the floaters and impedes the suspended solids of any weight as the flow into the outlet is in the opposite direction from the swirl. 1 1/2" in and out using Uni-seals. There is a 1" drain in the bottom to drain solids if the get too deep. The floaters break down right in the filter. No more messy solids in the GB media. Note the short pipe section on the top of the T so the floaters won't go over the top but allows for an overflow and siphon breaker.
