Every time I try to cut that little system loose, it starts spiking a bit and since it's been so hot here, I decided I'd better leave it tied into the main system until I'm not worried about cooking the catfish in their tank.

When I had it as just the 4 towers and the little pump in the tank I was seeing a fair bit of suspended solids clouding the water more than I like as well. When temps cool off a bit, I'm going to try setting it up so I pump out of the gravel bed next to the tank and up to the towers which drain into the tank and see if that will be a better arrangement.

I was wondering about the shade when you first put them up, but it doesn't seem to be hurting them at all. . . how's your nitrification going?

I think this location will be great for winter growing since it will get sun. And it seems to be doing ok in the shade and heat of summer too.
