Now this is Awesome! Very Nice - Looks very tranquil and serene!

I expect the diffused light will be fine, especially if it is a hot sub-tropical situation.

Very nice woodworking, looks beautiful.

I expect the red cinder will be fine.  Many people use red lava rock or our friends in OZ call it scoria and many people use it.  Some root crops may struggle to make a space for themselves in it but odd shaped roots are still edible even if they look funny.

Francis sometimes diffused light is better. Especially if your in the tropics. Looks like you are south of the equator by the vegetation or in florida. Lots of aquapons are using red lava with great results. Not sure how root crops will handle it. I say try it and keep us posted. If you grow like your wood working skills you will master it.

thanks. i am about 100 days into it. i'll take some new photos to shoe the grow beds...it is doing pretty well. what is your opinion of red cinder for gb medium. it seems the only real choice when i realized i needed 4 cubic yards. it seems the plants are doing fine, but i have not tried any root crops...

i saw your photos. nice operation. i think i might have blocked too much sunlight with the fiberglass roof panels on my pergola. (nobody ever knows what a pergola is...). peace,

francis

Great system. Nice work. Love the pergola timber framing. Wish I had the time I would love to baby sit it and hang out in Maui.
