I have never tried doing the hose to the bottom of the bell inside and out. I need to go do that now!
ya if the hose inside is "short" or close to the top and the siphon is moving fast it will snort the bubles to fast and you wont always get the kill shot. thicker hose would fix that but then it might get crowded inside the bell
I just noticed the other photo. My bell syphons tubing ends just after going through the cap.
I think this is the best way to do it. I have tried porting through the side of the bell which works well but this way so far for me accomplishes the break the cleanest.
the hose goes from the level you want the water to stop at on the outside through the top into the sipon between the 2 inch and 1 inch pipe were the water is going UP while the siphon is actualy sucking water. when the water level drops to the end of the outdide end the suction inside pulls a big gulp of air in and breaks the sipon. work like a charm. if the little hose ends up inside the down spout (1 in pipe) the thing will chug and cough and act like it wants to stop but wont realy die. i just copyed what others have done. i dont think it has a name. you will find info on it by serching "sipon wont stop"
Clay, OK, I'm a little slow tonight. Can you give a bit more explanation as to what you're talking about? Thanks very much.
the siphons never wanted to turn of, so i used the little search bar top right corner of your screen. found this idea works as advertized. you dont have to reinvent the wheel at this website.
