Aha Chris!  A little insight into fish psychology.  And they didn't even leave a note...

“This can’t be right. Breed faster, breed more?! How much can a... That’s it. I’m out. Are you coming? Not to blame, but that split fin rules out a jump. Just saying. Yeah, I know how suicide clog sounds, but think of it as taking one for the team. Closed loop ecosystem. We’ll fix their wagon. Meet me at the outflow at 3:00."

Chris, they were about 6 to 7 inches and two of my breeders!

Rob, I think they do it on purpose just to screw with us!

It's amazing what kind of trouble the fish can get into.  I've found one of my gold fish on the floor one morning.  Not sure how he got out of the tank since the rim of the tank is 6-8" above the water line.  Just a little guy too!

Intriguing photo. Screen position and midnight clogs, duly noted. How big were the victims?

LOL!  I wish!  This little guy and a friend got caught in an outflow that had a screen on the other side.  It didn't work out too well for them.  :(  A screen on their  side of the tank is now in place.  Its amazing what you think of after what happens, happens!  And of course this happened in the middle of the night causing an overflow there and sucking the last trough dry.  I always say if something is going to clog and overflow, guaranteed it will happen in the  middle of the night!
