I am trying to figure out how to grow indoors without abunch of extra lights.  Next we are going to try mylar on the walls and the ceiling tiles.  I think it can be done.  The plants in the front of the store are doing alot better than the one under lites.  I think the mylar will work.  You never know if you don't try.

Tom,  speaking as an engineer (ME, PhD Stanford) I am totally impressed with what you have done.  Your system is sleek, elegant, and (apparently) very functional.  It is also visually very appealing.  Though I am new to aquaponics, this is by far the most impressive set up I have seen.  I am amazed that you are doing this in SD.  Best of luck with your endeavors.  I hope to see more pics as your business grows.  -Elizabeth

They are filling and emptying every seven hours.  It is giving great growth the extra air to the roots.   The water was filtered in the system next to this one.  The nitrates are so high that i can feed both systems off the fish of the one system.

Are you filling these buckets from the bottom and draining them from the bottom as well?  I can see how this technique lets you use a lot less plumbing.

Meant to ask... are you filtering the water before feeding the buckets??

Interesting incorporation of hydroponic buckets into aquaponics... be interesting to see how they go...

Are you draining them periodically at all???

I love this!  You are so clever.  What an inspiration.  Are these tomatoes?  It looks like it will be easy to put a cage around each one for support.  Thanks so much for sharing your great ideas.
