For the pipes I do not use any medium inside, I just let the roots dangle. Once in a while, I accidentally drown the plants.  For the trays, I use pot scrubs as filters for the roots to grow on.

Hi Romana,

I have been thinking of doing the same with mine, but reading up, I see that alot of people are having difficulty with the pipe getting clogged over time. What are you using, gravel or some other grow medium, in the pipes? Cheers!

Hi Shane!

I might be dismantling this one and creating a vertical garden with the pipes with a water reservoir underneath each pipe.  It's been raining and the lack of sunlight is creating havoc on the plants. =) Have bliss.

Let me know how it goes and I will with mine.....the chive seems to be quite easy to grow and will to grow in most envirnoments....just planted some spearmint and this also seems to be catching...

Yup! same problem here. The plants tend to die out after a rainy period. I'm still looking for some other new

plants to try out. =)

Hi Romana, How long have you had this system running? I noticed that some of the pipes seem shaded. Ran in too some difficulty with lettuce not getting enough direct sunlight... now reconfiguring my system to allow more natural sunlight in....
