That sounds like a good plan. The other thing that's nice about the filter is that it's a threaded PVC connection at the bottom so you can easily add pipe to it and route it wherever you want. You could also simply drain off solids into a bottle and sell it to others as fish tonic for plants!

It's a sediment filter that I stumbled upon at the hardware store so I thought I'd try it. It has a little ball valve at the bottom so you can let out water and filtered solids as needed. Honestly I think it will get overwhelmed quickly by the Tilapia waste but I can easily take it out of the system. There is orchard netting in the blue tank just after that and before the raft bed for bio filtration. I made need more solids removal before that but I'm going to wait and see.
