My swirl filter. Used aluminum flashing for roofing to form the cone in the bottom. A lot easier to work with that a bucket lid.

Randy, Research seems limited on this topic, but from what I can find the studies have been done only in heated instances (cooking), and any transfers noted have been minuscule. It is a build in progress. Hope to add more as the spring progresses. Have a lettuce raft and a vertical tower I want to hook to it.

I'm concerned about the use of aluminum in closed systems with fish. For my 2 cents, I would for go the cone and just siphon the solids from the bottom of the swirl filter when necessary. You have a nice neat system there, makes me realize how hodgepodge mine is.
