I made this out of a 6' section of 6" PVC. It holds 45, 2" net pots. This was my first stab at Aeroponics. This is the before shot.

Colleen, the holes go all the way around. There are 45 total. 9 rows of 5. The holes were cut with a 2" hole saw on a drill.

Hi Colleen,
Check out my page and look at my photos. I have updated them recently. This is my first prototype and it has been an interesting trip so far. I am constantly learning and trying to better the model. I am going to try some different configurations and try to find an efficient and sustainable method.

I love the Shure to Grow media and have found that direct seeding works best for me. I tried rockwool cubes and also the 1" squared Shure to Grow cubes but found that it just costs more and does tend to get pushed out before the roots can become entrenched. I have been growing for many years and this last year playing with Aquaponics has been the most rewarding, best tasting fun I've had yet. Good Luck!

Thanks so much David. It has been a labor of love and hate. I introduced my first fish this past weekend for cycling and planted some herbs as a test. I am glad that this has inspired you. By the way the net pots won't work with the new media. It is too spongey and pushes the pots back out. I have resorted to tearing a smal opening in the media and simply stuffing the rock wool cube in the void. I am also going to experiment with seeding directly into the media and placing seedlings directly also.

This is one of the best homemade vertical tower systems I have ever seen! Ingenious! I love the Shure to Grow media and have always been very successful with it. I am going to try a similar setup as I love your design. Thanks for sharing! Good Luck
