Yron, small tank like this you could keep perhaps 4 or 5 fish, I use it as a test-bed for different ideas, the fish are research partners not food ;)

Dennis, sealers cause me a lot of problems, I haven't found one yet I like. Tremclad paint is good on the outside as long as you keep runoff out of the grow bed and fish tank.

Nice set-up, What is the volume of your tank and How many fish are there in it?

Thanks Hermann,

That's helpful.  Also, do you use any types of sealers on the wood to protect it from the elements? Thanks again,

Hi Dennis,

I use Pine mostly but also hard wood. Treated wood could be an issue but bigger problems are caused by things like copper pipes, certain plastics, etc Stone, Glass and food grade plastics work best.

hope this helps...

Hi Hermann,

I really like your structures.  I have a question though.  What type of wood are you using?  I'm trying to build a cover for a rubbermaid stock tank, but with something that won't harm the fish or plants.

Thanks in advance.

Dennis...
