the blue tub has a hole cut in the botom with a 3 inch pipe snug in it going to the bottom of the gray can. the idea is that whater folows the path of least resistance if i gust ran the water through a filter and let it fall into this can it would not circulate through the bio filter. and i would have a stagnat rotten base.
