  • New Here - I am in Southern Illinois close to Kentucky and Indiana. Is there anyone in this area doing this? I have Built my boxes for my plants, 8 ft x 3 ft x 1 ft and 7 ft x 2 ft x 1 ft to put the gravel in. Got my plants started in planting soil. Got an old old hot tub to put the fish in.

  • What are the best fish to use here in Southern Illinois?

Unfortunately I am in the process of breaking down my system.  I plan on selling my house this spring and a fully functioning AP system in the basement doesn't seem like a good selling point - but i could be wrong!  Anyway, i can sell it whole or parts thereof.

Tanks:2 100 gallon Tuff Stuff tanks (one fish tank and one sump tank), 2 50 gallon Rubbermaid tanks (one was a raft system and the other was filled with hydroton.

The hydroton is for sale (enough to more than fill the 50 gallon rubbermaid tank).

3 Lights: 2 Sun System 150 watt HPS lights, and a Flourowing 120v Flourescent light.

2 Pumps: Lifegard Aquatics Quiet one 2200 and 1200.

2 Air Pumps:  1 whisper 100 (2 air outlets) and 1 Active Aqua Pump (4 air outlets)

Lights would come with hanging ropes with ratchets.

I am located in Jackson Hole Wy, fyi for shipping costs.  IF interested in any of this equipment or the whole thing, message me here.  or @ jrkbuddy@yahoo.com.  I can send pictures if interested.

Thanks!

James

Oh I forgot to mention we can also transport all the lava rock which is fully cycling too as part of the deal if you are not too far away from Ca.

We have a large 8 tank, 1,800 gallon system which is fully mature and can produce 100 lbs. of fish per month.  We currently have around 100 2lbs Rainbow Trout in there now.  It is also currently growing micro greens worth $40.00 per pound as well as tomatoes. It can produce $500-$600 worth of greens and tomatoes per month. There's an extensive list of other produce that can be grown in this system. Most of what we've tried has thrived. It is also set up with 2 deepwater lettuce beds producing 100 heads of lettuce every 3-4 weeks.

We used Stainless steel tanks as they are the most stable non toxic non leaching material there is.   Included in the sale are the  8 stainless steel tanks, 3 pumps, Solids collector, + a back up solids collector, wood burning stove to keep it from getting too cold for the plants, (the trout can take lower temps than most plants) all the wood for the walkways and the pedestals. Also multiple extra stainless steel trays for micro-green production. We will provide you with a comprehensive training and operations manual and hands on training to teach you how to keep it running. We'll be ready to make 2 trips per your request in the 2 weeks after it is set up at your location as part of this deal. We will be prepared to spend up to 2 hours with you on each of these visits.  If you are more than 100 miles from us in Guerneville ca. that may or may not be an option but phone and skype consultations may be more logical.  After those 2 visits we will be available at $50 -$75 per hr. for phone consultations and in person visits. The cost is $20,000.00 for the system, and installation. Price is $15,000 if you would like to transport and install the system yourself.

In case anyone is interested I have friends, Debra and Curtis who plan to auction everything off in March. They have a lot of aquaponic stuff such as tanks, tilapia and other house hold items, and even their cave house may be auctioned do to unforeseen circumstances.

Here is the link to the event

Below is a link to the cave house and aquaponic set up. He built the cave house and it is a really nice unique home.

I do not know if anyone is interested in relocating ;-) but the aquaponic items may be of interest to some…

I went out and spent a ton on a fish sweater that I can't get to to work. If anyone would be interested in buying it from me for half the price I paid, you can have it all and you can work with the support team. I've been told that even if I get it to work, the exhaust from the unit is likely to melt the plastic roof of my greenhouse.
