Hi everyone,

I'm currently a junior horticulture student at Temple University. I run the aquaponics lab we have here on campus, and was looking to gain as much knowledge in the field as possible before graduating. Specifically, I am looking to get an internship with aquaponics and/or possibly searching for job opportunities. If anyone knows of, or has any information regarding this, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks and have a great day!

Hello! I've been looking into aquaponics for about a year now and wish to make it a life career. I've started one but havent been able to complete it. I am looking for a job/internship, willing to work 40+ hours in exchange for only knowledge, a place to stay, and food. I will relocate, currently living in PA. I have recommendations from my previous employer of over 5 years. In short I need a foot in the door and I want to make it life work to build units in needy countries. I am interested in crawfish/rice aquaponics as well. Please contact me at l0rd_vincent@yahoo.com. Thanks!

Looking for Someone Local (VENICE OR INGLEWOOD FLORIDA)  who wants to spend a two or three days a week for a couple of hours a day to grow, plant, harvest, and benefit from my existing Aquaponic system at my home,  I will supply the system and functional upkeep, You will have 3/4 of my systems space for your  planting, and harvest as long as it is for personal use and not for selling, you supply the Labor, Love, Dedication, seeds, planting media, and 1/2 the fish food, and maybe some labor for my small 1/4 section of the system if need be,  I would also like the befits of some of your harvest for my family's personal use,  and will likewise  share with you with my area of production.  I also have Chickens and for the price of the chicken food, you can also share the fresh eggs. There is also free fresh fish as we need to keep the system in balance through-out the year.

Please email me if you are interested or someone you know would like to meet to see if we are a match.

Hi all,

I recently graduated with a masters in sustainable aquaculture systems from University of Plymouth (UK), and am currently looking for a job in aquaponics.  My thesis was on the use of vermicultured worms as a diet of NFT systems.  My background is in aquaculture, but learned a lot and grew very fond of aquaponics during my thesis.  I have experience building/ maintaining systems and growing a few different species of fish.  If anyone has any openings please let me know and I can email/private message you my resume. I am currently located in the northeast US but am more than willing to travel.

Thank you for the reply, Paul.  I am looking into doing just that.

@James and Jason,

From my experience working in California make sure you get paid or have some type of written contract for your employment/volunteer time if you end up working for a commercial aquaponics operation. With all that experience you should just consider leasing some space and starting your own small setup and grow instead of wasting your time laboring for someone else. Just my two cents.

I just relocated to Southern California after a four year sailing adventure and am interested in any job opportunities within the Aquaponics field. I became interested in Aquaponics three years ago while visiting Tonga.  I was able to create a 2000 liter back yard system on the island of Babanga, just outside of Gizo in the Soloman Islands. Shortly afterwards I was offered the opportunity to work with the Fisheries Department in Papua New Guinea.  However, I was sailing then and unable to move forward.

I am interested in all phases of Aquaponics and would prefer a position that will not only further my own knowledge, but also assist me in setting up systems that will provide an educational aspect for people that are interested in self-sustainability both here and abroad.

Thank you,

James K.

Hello All,

I'm moving to the Bay Area at the end of February. I am looking to continue my work in aquaponics and aquaponic based education.  I have 4 years of experience including aquaponic farm management experience. I've designed and built systems from 10 to 5000 gallons. I've built systems in the United States and India.

Any leads and opportunities would be helpful. If you are in the bay area and would like to talk aquaponics with me, send me a message and we'll set something up. I will be in town Feb 6th - 11th.

Best,

Jason

Hi everyone, I'm new to the source and aquaponics, and as yet have little to no experience but I'm looking to get involved however I can! Are there any members with knowledge regarding aquaponic operations and opportunities in the UK?

Great to see the beginnings of such a vibrant, active, and global community.

My focus and interest lies within small scale urban/peri-urban sustainable food production (<5 acres). I am particularly interested in urban homesteading that includes small livestock, vegetable production, hoophouse/greenhouse and aquaponics. In other words year around food production. I will send my resume to interested parties

Please feel free to reach out to me with questions, comments or suggestions.

Hi everyone,

I recently graduated from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. While I was there I did some aquaponics research. One project was designed to assess the feasibility of harvesting red worms from vermicompost as a supplemental feed for tilapia. I later presented the results at the ESA meeting this summer. After graduation I also worked in the biology department and did some work on a aquaponics system that was purchased from Healing Haiti to be used as a model system for their system in Haiti. I worked with another student to set up the system and manage the day to day operation. After gaining this experience and reading some of the literature that I found on aquaponics I have become very interested in possibly pursuing a masters degree in aquaponics. I would first like to look for a position in the field to gain some more experience. If anyone has any possible openings or opportunities my email is berg8374@stthomas.edu, I would appreciate hearing from any of you. Thanks, Isaac.

I'm looking to hire an aquaponics expert or enthusiast for a short term upcoming job. Our goal is create an aquaponics system that can work around a rotating plant based system. If you have experience with mechanical engineering that would be a major bonus. You can get more information about this system at our website: www.greenhouseintl.org   Keep in mind that the pictured design will have a separate fish room below the main work area. At this point we are designing the blueprints. That is the main objective. Please let us know how much you would expect for compensation for your services. Potentially this could turn into a long term job, that is our vision, that this could be a job that many people could do one day soon.
