Please tell us something else about yourself.
I studied marine biology in University and shortly after decided I did not want to pursue it as a career. I became very interested in sustainable agriculture, especially methods that I could use at home. I grew up in the Caribbean where water is scarce and soil is poor so conventional agriculture is very expensive. After some research I stumbled upon aquaponics and I haven’t looked back. I have built 4 small systems at home and 2 others for hotels on the islands. I am looking to expand our systems at home and build others for friends and those who are interested.

    Hi Matt,

My brother actually lived In Turks and Caicos a few years back as he was a scuba instructor at club Med... Beautiful place.

As for your fish tank volume... It depends what type of fish, what filtration you use and how dense you want to grow the fish. If using Tilapia and you build a good filtration system, you could get away with a 1000gal fish culture tank for that area (considered semi intensive). If you don't want to raise the tilapia that dense, bump up to a 1300-1500 gal tank.

Thanks for the kind words and good luck on the project!

    Ryan
