Hi, I am looking to connect with local people before I start my system. I am looking for a knowledge base and to know what local problems we face ie regulations weather?? I don't know. Would love to know what you thinks works best I see you have a flood and drain. I was wanting a media filled continuous flow, NFT, and Float systems. Looking to have red nile tilapia and shrimp. Looking to feed 6-10 people.

Hi very sorry for the delayed response and thank you for responding! I am VERY interested in starting my system soon. I would love to bounce some ideas off you and maybe even see your system?

For my personal system I am still in the what will work best for me in my area stage.

I am sure I will need a mix of grow beds looking to raise shrimp in my deep water culture (DWC) beds, tomatoes and squash in media filled and maybe some bell pepper and okra? in the film beds.

I am looking at some 14 ft intex above ground pools for my fish tanks with Red Nile Tilapia. I want to feed primarily duck week. I am hoping to make my own filtration system out of 55 gallon drums maybe 3 from vortex to bio. I am wanting a green house to help control the system. I want to be as self sufficient and sustainable as possible.

What is the back up power situation? Aeration and not pumps on a small generator, solar, batteries? a mix

My challenges are location best suited for green house. Thanks to the milder temps in Alabama I am hoping to have a year around operation. I am open to other fish that will eat duck weed not wanting to spend 500+ if I can help it on fish. I have thought about worms in the media filled beds and shrimp in the DWC beds not sure. I do want to find the best alternative for the tanks the above ground pools are on sale and for 150$ it is hard to not try. I am looking for the best way to construct my grow beds especially the DWC.

I hope that lets gives you a feel of where I am at not much experience but done 100+ hours of you tube and reading so some mixed ideas.
