Thanks for putting your hand out.  I'm not sure what I'll be doing with this, just checking it out, seems like the right thing to be doing at the right time.  Would like to hear from Floridians to hear how it can work.  I'm seeing greenhouses set-ups, is that for the northerners only?

I told Ed that exact thing but he figured that the well water is in the low 50s and could keep things cool or use some peltiers as cooler but I am fine with perch or bluegills.  Anyone adding crayfish to their tanks?

Yes that is year round.  We have a 300 foot well.  But we will start off probably with bluegill or tilapia but I really do not like tilapia or catfish and too me they taste much the same.  But maybe a farmed catfish would not have the mud taste as wild that live in the mud.  We are very new at this.  We are currently more into fowl.  We have 7 turkeys, 8 guinea fowl, 8 hens, 30 coturnix quails and 8 rabbits.

Congrats TC!  That's incredible news and the farm looks beautiful.  Couldn't happen to a better aquapon!  

So Far So Good!! I've been at it now for about 2 months. Learned alot and still learning. It is like WAR!! Each little battle brings you closer to Veggies !!

Don't know much about planting or keeping fishes but I'm a nerd, so I can learn anything and can follow instructions :)  Looks like a good place to start.  Looking forward to learning with everyone here and be able to be self-sustaining. Being in FL, we're also looking into solar power.

I appreciate the value you have here and then you are the first to welcome me. I actually just took a drive to Dade City yesterday to the MorningstarFishermen. And picked me up some fries. Thank you again and hope we will keep in much more contact.

Excellent!  That timeline should work out perfectly for us, as we are also doing a move.  Will you still have a sale ongoing at that time?  I am definitely interested in getting a jump start buy using some pre-used media and I want to look at tower structures in person.

you think may be helpful. 250 gal fish tank
SLO to one media filled 3x8x1 growbed with
bell siphon to one 3x8x1 raft growbed with
bell siphon to sump and back to tank. This
setup will be inside with a light for growbeds.
Fish tank will be elevated to overflow.
I have no parts yet. Plan to get a used IBC for fish
and build growbed boxes and use liner. Water
from nearby lake ( maybe fish too). h e l p.....

TCLynx, Im new to aquaponics. Ive been looking at everything i possibly can on the internet. It looks like every post i come across, you have commented on. So it is in my opinion that you are the person to ask advice. I live in Ohio and have 5 acres to deal with. I am starting my system with 5 IBC totes. In my barn. I think i can control the temp, but need help with my design. I want to have a full blown aquaponics set up in the summer, and a scaled back version in the winter. Help me please!

In designing your hanging ZipGrow Tower systems, how do you keep the supply lines to the towers from clogging.  I want to keep maintenance issues to an absolute minimum.

What small water creature would be good to eat all the poopie slime from the bottom of my water raft bed?

I started my system with 2 cow feed tubs about 20 gal ea.one grow bed and one fish tank. In 2 days I've added one 40 gal barrel for fish tank and a bath tub for a second grow bed. The original fish tank has now become my sump tank.  3 tomato and 1 flower are in the grow bed and I need more gravel to fill the bath tub.  The bell syphons worked well from the start.  It takes 6+ minutes to make one complete cycle.  Am working to stretch this out a bit more.  Been working on the system about a week and yes I am hooked, addicted, just can't get enough.

local  is like within 20 miles and i called morningstar but they wanna charge me to look at how there system is working

How do I get rid of this on my Tilapia, its killing them off. My veggies are doing fine so far?

OK, noted on the salt, is that rock salt?

What does PPT translate to. How many pounds per gallon or kgs per liters of salt?

In desperation I put in 500ml of 10 ppm of Colodial silver. The total water in fish tank and resevoir is 660 gallons. I had 100 Tilapia fry in this system and think I have about 70 now. All the veggies appear to be doing well at present especially the tomatoes.

Hi - my friend in Clermont is Pam Gillmore.   I think she toured your facility recently.

I just asked her and she said definitely.  Bought quite a few things and your mom kindly gave her some mint.

It's been such a long time since I've logged in, but I do thank-you for taking the time to respond to my post. I got really discouraged after all the bugs showed up on my lettuce and I didn't know what to do. But I do plan to try again this spring :)

Jim Troyer mentioned you sell indexing valves. I am considering one, but don't know much about how t use it.
