Married. Live in town (Tucson).
I found this site on 10/5, the day before the self-guided tour was to take place (saw Mr. Brookbanks post); only visited one place (Jason's) as it was close. He'd only been doing Aquaponics for about 4 months, but his system was impressive.
I'm in the process of building/setting up my system. Found out about Aquaponics from a WormFarmingSecrets newsletter. I work full-time; participate in my church (Sonrise Baptist Independent Church); ride a motorcycle; open-carry; preserve produce when I can; have chickens & cats.
I'm very excited to get started with this! Looking forward to gleaning a LOT of info from this site! And, hopefully, I can offer some too!

Thanks, Pam, I'll check it out.  I want to use it in my breeding tank - 100 gallons - and I leave the fry in there until they're about an inch long - but the ammonia was getting out of control.  I just removed the babies two days ago - and three other large fish that were superfluous males.  So now I have two males and one female in the breeding tank - want to add at least one more female later.  I couldn't afford the Poret, but was at the hardware store the other day and found a nice air filter for a furnace that has a hard plastic frame and is sizable.  I cut it down to fit and wedged it into the tank to separate the pump and pump filter from the rest of the tank like they do the Poret.  It was $20 - but the price on the Poret plus shipping was $100 or so.  It is working very well.  My tank is cleaner than it's ever been.  I'm very happy so far.
