Always had an interest in gardening and tropical fish. Now there's a way to combine the two! Awesome!
This summer I experimented with Lasagna Gardening and was very happy with the results.

Awesome story, Paul! Not often you hear of someone being dragged into AP out of necessity. I love it. Hope you are now, or will be, a convinced addict. Glad to have you here.
Things are going well with my little set-up. We are now cycling and hoping every day for the nitrites to appear. The kids planted seeds - about a half pound of lettuce! some of them have started to sprout so it's exciting for them to see. The gentleman who has the tilapia has had a bit of a setback as a pump quit last weekend and he lost a whole bunch. I hope he still has a few to sell to me when my system is ready. 15 years ago, when I moved in, I removed the shower doors from the bathtub as they were pretty yucky with hard water residue. I put them in the basement thinking that some day I might want them. This week, I brought them up and made a nifty sliding door for the fish room. I can still see the light and peak over the top to check that things are ok but the little ones are safe from falling into the fish tank and eating the hydroton. All is good.

Glad to hear its works without problem, you can forget about it now and concentrate on planting and fish.
Cheers.
