My name is Aragon and I first started doing aquaponics in the UK about 19 years ago, and am now looking to really promote this in Japan (where I now live).
After the recent earthquake and Tsunami though, myself and a few others have gotten together to try and promote aquaponics to those devastated communities and to introduce them to this fantastic system.
Thanks for joining the Aquaponic Gardening community! I hope you find it a fun and resourceful place to explore aquaponics. There is a real blend of experienced and new aquapons in this community, so please don’t hesitate to get in there and start asking questions. Everyone is quite happy to help out new members – no question is too basic.
A great place to start is to read the “How to Use This Site” link on the upper right corner, “Start Here” section of the Home page. You might also find the “Aquaponic Gardening Rules of Thumb” guidelines helpful.
Please participate and check in with us every day! We are constantly posting news about aquaponics and the good food movement. We would love to hear more of your work and progress in Japan. We recognize the importance Aquaponics can hold for areas so devastated by natural disasters where valuable farm land has been destroyed. I wish you the best of luck with your endeavors and have the utmost respect and admiration for your goals.
Normally Sylvia Bernstein, the community's founder, would be welcoming you, but she is enjoying a well deserved vacation and I am helping out by welcoming new members in her absence. I am certain she would be excited to have you join and she will be looking forward to getting to know you upon her return. Thanks again for joining us, and I too look forward to getting to know you too. See you around the site!
Hey, no problem on the welcome! Yes, I think there are probably many that share your same vision and goals and hopes for Japan. You are on an awesome path friend! Can't wait to hear more!
A wonderful way of life. There is already a wealth of knowledge in Japan and it should thus be easy to jump start this way of life. Looking forward to getting to know you more.
I love what you did with your system and the cool videos!!! I love how compact the system is! Yeah, true. It seems like nobody really know anything about Aquaponics in Japan..... but like you said will have to start from somewhere. I believe there is big potential. Many big name corporations in Japan are starting to invest on developing fully enclosed Hydroponic system. Daiwa House has launched this really sleek high-tech system for home/community use.
