We have been doing aquaponics now for several years, but have currently moved to Ohio to do it in a large way. When we lived in Southern California we had a 4000 gallon Koi pond that I built two grow beds on. We recently moved to Ohio and bought a property that we are building a 30' x 96' greenhouse on.

    Hi Jeff,

Thanks for joining the Aquaponic Gardening community! I hope you find it a fun place to explore aquaponics. There is a real blend of experienced and new aquapons in this community, so please don’t hesitate to get in there and start asking and answering questions. We'd also love to see some photos / video of your system!

We have just a few simple rules: stay on the subject of aquaponics and keep it cordial (no flaming!). If someone decides to break these rules they will get a warning, and then be banned from the community after that. But of course I’m hoping that never happens!

Thanks again for joining us, and I look forward to getting to know you.

Gorgeous photos, Jeff. Where is CA is Cathedral City? I grew up in Modesto. The challenge many of us face with using AP in landscaping is the bacteria freezing out over the winter. Have you experienced that? I'm doing a keynote address for the Colorado Water Gardening Society in April - do you mind if I pull a photo from here? There really isn't much out there about incorporating AP into landscapes....I'd love to know more about your system. Would sure help with my speech! Thanks

Hey Jeff, is there a way you can take a video camera and walk visually thought what you just said about how this all works in your yard, with you describing it just like you did below? That would be great stuff for this presentation for the water gardening society, if you don't mind. I'm having the presentation filmed, BTW, so you can get a copy of it and see your stuff highlighted.

Hey Jeff, thanks for being so generous! I really appreciate the offer of stills and video! Probably best to post them both here and email - I'm not sure I can pull down the image from here, but I know email won't be a problem. In one of my old blog posts I talked about the aquaponics addiction (sounds like you have been bitten) and highlight an installation in So Cal where the guy blogged about converting his pool to an aquaponics system - http://aquaponicgardening.wordpress.com/page/2/. You may want to check it out!

Beautiful day here in Boulder - about 52 degrees and a few wispy clouds. Ahhhhh

Love that garden!!!!! Me Jealous. It's like a river in your back yard!!!!!
Those cabbages look like they are simply out in the middle of the water, how are you doing that?

It's great. Tanks for inviting me to be your friend. For some reason several functions of ning don't seem to work for me so I've not been able to invite anyone on here to be my friend, nor can I send/reply to messages for some reason so if you want me to send a message to ya, give me your regular e-mail in a message and I'll reply that way. Otherwise I have to do it in a public comment.

    Great garden, love it.

Having difficulty e-mailing you Jeff. I think there might have been a typo in the address you listed but then when I removed the ! it still bounced back saying the mailbox is full.

You should still be able to send me a private message using the messaging service on this site, you just have to give me a working way to respond when you do. Other option would be to hit my web site www.tclynx.com and I've set up a way for people to leave me messages and comments there. Otherwise, you can probably guess my screen name on aol and therefore my e-mail address.

Hi Jeff---our greenhouse is in south Ventura County nrth of LA. I managed a 20 acre Biodynmic farm near you for the Eos institute. I have a very good idea of the growing conditions there. Our farm manager said he "didn't know you could grow in "Kitty Litter"!!!"

We are starting a capital campaign for this project and have applied for a grant to do a prototype system there and run workshops on Aquaponics and Permaculture there as a research feild station. It's located on a 300 acre organic farm. I will post to this web site as things develop. We have several other projects we are currewntly involved with that have to do with localised food production. More later---nice to herar from you.
    Regards, Jerry
