greenhouse cover?

I am looking at installing a hoop style cover over our broken pool to convert it into a greenhouse. I need to know what to cover it with and where to find it. Preferably not horribly expensive since I have 8 kids and 2 mortgages and limited funds......Hence the greenhouse to grow some of our food and become a little more self sufficient. The greenhouse will be 70'x40'.

    Hi Dana, there are pictures online of the builds we have done here in the Phoenix area (and Haiti and California).  They are on our garden pool meetup group site, just look at recent meetups (you might have to join meetup and then join 'garden pool' to view...not sure).  Chris

    Hi Dana...I volunteer with Garden Pool, we use Clear Heavy Duty Tarps (from tarpaflex.com) in the Winter (they are string reinforced and have grommets every 18") and then we switch to 40% white shade cloth (from greenhousemegastore.com) in the Summer.

    Thanks Jeff. I was considering that at first but wasn't sure how well it would work. My sweetheart is a vetran so he gets 10% off at home depot and lowes, so it would make it that much more affordable until we get something better. I just wanted to see what options are out there and see what others are using.

    If you can't find the "good stuff" readily available you can use Home Depot type 6 mil poly while you search. Holds up well for me on my 8x22 GH but needs replacement every year. I used double layer on the roof and it held up to a 16" snow this year.

    Hey Jeff. The first year I used Lowes 6 mil on part and TSC 4mil on another part and the TSC outlasted the Lowes by quite a bit as thin as it was. I was very impressed by the difference. So I can vouch for TSC's.
