This is a group for those that want to stay connected with Sahib Aquaponics. Sahib's goal is to be at the forefront of sustainable urban gardening by adopting the latest Aquaponics technologies and growing methods to provide both high quality food and fish, competitively priced, grown locally and grown naturally. Sahib combines the various methods of growing using Aquaponics and the resulting Hybrid systems he creates ensures that there is optimal use of the rich effluent fish water. He recognizes that it is crucial to make use of as much of the solids as possible to grow the maximum possible food in the most economic way and in the least amount of space - which is always at a premium in urban areas.

 

Sahib's Aquaponics Research Farm uses a hybrid Aquaponics system with deep-water raft culture, media bed, various vertical towers, NFT and recirculating wicking beds. He also combines it all with plants in the ground and waters them with AP water. Complicated yet Sahib explains it all in lay man's terms

A Good Fit for Small Spaces

In suburban Orlando, Florida, farmer Sahib Punjabi has developed several models of miniature re-circulating farms to fit in small, underused spaces, such as storage rooms and patios. In only 18 square feet, Punjabi’s “Zero Lot” Backyard Aquaponic System combines a variety of plant beds with a 55-gallon fish tank.
He aims to build a totally self-sufficient system that can be deployed anywhere, from developing-world villages to U.S. neighborhoods.

I love the idea of having food grown in empty parking lots. Creative genius! LOL

Love to see some photos of your system that you built for your school project. 

As you may have read, IDEAS For Us recently partnered with Sahib Aquaponics to provide their student members education in Sustainable Urban Gardening using Aquaponics. They do have International Chapters so this may be something your College may want to look into. Let me know :-)

Hi...The siphon of my first aquaponics system is working really fine draining in 6mins 

starts exactly one inch below the surface .. so excited

Link is working fine. Pics look great, I can't wait to see the three tiered system as vertical farming should be very advantageous but that seems like a lot of water weight to support with 3 levels...good luck :
