Hey all! Glad to see there are more aquaponic farmers out there in the great white North instead of the warm and easy-to-do-aquaponics-in South :)

I looked at your pics. Impressive setup. Probably made the right decision shutting down for the winter we had. Unfortunately I have Tilapia and they don't like the cold. I took more interest in raising fish than raising plants. I threw up a small GH late in the fall and did a lot of learning throughout the winter. Now I think I was overdoing it a lot. I'll be ready for next winter. For the summer I'm moving back outside and trying to grow some veggies. There's just no end to how much fun you can have with this stuff.

Yeah doesn't seem to be many of us in Michigan. I try to post in these Michigan groups regularly just to keep them active. So how long you been doing aquaponics?

John, Did you find any Tilapia yet?

I found another Michigan group last night but it has been inactive for quite a while. I get a lot of info from mostly the IBC and Arizona groups. I've been at this since last summer. Haven't had any success with veggies but have all the fish I can handle. I'm no expert but you may be preparing for more fish than you'll have grow bed for. What kind of fish are you planning on? Would be happy to help out where I can.

Hi Trevor. I knew there must be a Michigan group. Unfortunately you and I are the only members as of yet. I've been hanging out in other groups for a couple of months. How far along are you now?

Hello,

Im Trevor in Ferndale.  Im in the process of putting up an aquaponics system in my basement. 4 35 gallon barrels (tilapia) with a 4x4 grow bed with gravel. Ill be harvesting black soldier fly larva and growing duckweed to supplement an organic pellet diet.

who else is around here?
