Jim,

Kudos on getting started. the plants will need the fish waste to grow good. it will take two months after you have fish to see a balance. you have a great start. hang in there

I won't be ready for a couple of years, but if anyone has some free fingerlings in the Northern California / Southern Oregon area, I'd love a donation. Planning on warm water fish even if I have to heat all winter -- after I build my greenhouse. Thanks...

I have been learning about aquaponics for more than a year. 5 months ago I took the leap and purchased 50 White Nile Tilapia small fingerlings, but 7 turned to a dark color. I seperated the dark from the white and white/red. Now I am interested in finding more of the iridesent blue/green. any have some they would like to get rid of?

thank you

Dave

Hi Sam, I will post some pics this weekend. Yes it is a big spa tub that never had the jets. It had a blemish that I epoxied, it was also insulated so it should make a good fish tank. I'm going to start it out with some Comets for a few weeks then I would like to get some Tilapia and see your place if possible. When I come over to the coast I will drag my boat and we can go for a ride in the river.

Hi Patrick.  It was great meeting you too and I wish I could have stayed longer. Can't wait to see the pictures of your system. 100 gallons?  Just how big is that bath tub? Do you need any fingerlings for your system?  I have plenty if you do.

It was a pleasure to meet you Sam at Sahib's place. I am starting a 100 gallon system using a bathtub for the fish and garbage cans for the plants as aeroponic/aquaponic towers. I will post pics.

Paul & Chris,

It was a pleasure meeting you both and I look forward to seeing some photos of how your systems come along.I definitely feel like I made a few new friends!

This week I was able to donate fingerlings to a local middle school where they have a wonderful aquaponics system set up...just needed fish!  I was also able to donate some fingerlings today to Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando.  They have a wonderful aquaculture setup with 2-700 gallon tanks and 2-800 gallon tanks along with a couple of huge bio wheels.  The cool part is they are starting to build an aquaponics garden too!

I just wanted to say Thanks Sam
I picked up fingerlings and a lot of knowledge a couple days ago. We also stayed and talked for a couple of hours about raising fish and health in general.

i was lucky enough to take advantage of free fingerlings for begginners. i would like to thank SW for the Tillapia and tour of his work. I know some on here are probably into this to get affordable food, but if you can afford to give something, keep in mind that the parent fish and fingerlings do eat and it costs someone.

Of the fingerlings i picked up sunday, ALL are still alive and eating.  :)

The best thanks i cand give Sam, is to make fingerlings available when mine start to breed. IT WILL  happen. Thanks again.
