If it is standing but even a few degrees above freezing or running, it will transfer the heat to your plants. Orchards on freezing nights will flood irrigate for this reason. The liquid water even though cold to us is hot when compared to the air and this heat warms the orchard enough to prevent the fruit from freezing. The same is true for your aquaponics. Naturally a very hard freeze or freezing wind can overcome this effect but it works often enough.
