and the sump view

I finally got it set up.  I found two leaks, on is a simple pvc elbow that I need to glue the other is coming from the bulk head that scares me a little more, I'm going to have use some epoxy filler on that one after I drain the FT so I can get to it.  I cut it close with the fish tank drain, I sat and watched as the GB siphoned and the fish Tank maybe had about two more inches before I had trouble, but thankfully it finished and drained.  I'm glad I chose a two inch pipe for the drain or I would have been in trouble.

We have a freeze warning for the next couple of nights... How is everyone's garden doing? My growth has shown and my basil isn't looking great..

Hey Jeremy,  the GB is 2x8 and 12 inches high.  The fish tank is 2x6 and about 24 inches high.  The sump is a 100 gal tank I got from a feed store.

Matt nice setup, I would place the green sump tank in an area that would have the least impact on my ability to tend the growbed and fish tank... Post some more pics... Looks pretty nice.. What are the measurements ?

Hey got a question for you all.  I'm at the 95% mark to start my system up for cycling (yah I know it only took 2+ months to get this far, but dang it can start adding up fast when you're not watching).  Anyway,  I got the grow bed completed and filled with lava rock, I got the fish tank built and lined.  I'm going to raise the fish tank higher on the cement blocks so it is right under the GB when it drains, then I'll have an over flow in the fish tank that will gravity feed back to the 100 gal sump tank (the green tank in the back).  What I'm wondering is the placement of the fish tank and where the over flow drain should be located?  As you can see in the picture I just moved it under the GB basically in the middle, but  I've read on line you should have overflow and GB drain as far apart as possible so one end will have the overflow to the sump and the other side will have water coming from the GB that is on a bell siphon.  Can I get your guys (and gals) thoughts on the placement?  right now Nothing is set in stone where it comes to the moving the fish tank around and placing the PVC where it's needed - as to the grow bed,  it aint moving as the lava rock is in it and weighs a ton.  I'll also will be trimming up the pond liner to make it look neater and more aesthetic.  Thanks for the help!

Hello, I am going to an event at Sea of Green on  Jan. 19th from 10-11:30am (1301 E. University Dr. 134 Tempe, AZ) to learn more about everything, the class is on "Indoor Gardening". If there are any other events, or meet ups that you all do here please share! I am eager to find like minded individuals as I am thinking about an Aquaponics system in my Apt. somehow.
