I bet that would definitely help.  Probably the only failsafe is a backup electrical or supplementary (solar) system, or manual shading in the event of a power outage. . . I really like the design though.  Very cool volume based way to deal with solids and the problem with sprayers. . .

Thanks for the tip Nate! I am planning on putting a white elastomeric roof coating on the towers...what do you think?

Very clever aero setup Patrick.  I like your irrigation solution.  You'd might want to watch your temperatures with those black barrels though- if you lose power in the sunlight you might burn up your roots.  I've had temperature issues in some of my aero setups- my temperatures really fluctuated with the environment.

We never waste the solid waste from the fish, I have heard that the UVI system doesn't pay attention to the waste solids, NONSENSE!!! I have attended the UVI training and the solids are NEVER wasted but used for crops that can not be produced aquaponically. There are many foods that we should consume that can not be produced aquaponically. We need the waste from the aquaponic system to produce these crops. I will elaborate further in my next post.

The fish provide almost everything you need for plant growth without heavy messy media, The idea is to control the fish waste within the bio filter and let the nutrients flow through out the system. We collect the biosoilids and use them for crops that can not be produced aquaponically.

There will be a filter tank added very soon, after I add it I will post pics and comment as to how it works.
