I feed mine Aquamax and Duck Weed. In season, I give them a chunk of Water Mellon to munch on as a treat.

What to you feed your finnie friends??

I used to feed mine aquamax before they stopped selling it in Canada.

Right now I use http://www.mazuri.com/mazurikoipondnuggets.aspx which the fish seem to like but is more expensive than the aquamax.

They also like kale and carrot tops. Haven't tried duck weed but plan to at some point. Not sure if my production could keep up with their appetites though!

Their appetites are something!

Hi everyone. Thanks for the invite Phil. I feed my fish Koi food from our local nursery. I figure Koi enthusiasts are kinda picky about their fish so it should be OK. Only paid $1 per lb.

I had an IBC with duckweed growing in it and put a few hundred fry/fingerlings in it and the duckweed was gone in 2 days. Didn't think it would go that fast. I haven't had the success growing it that everyone says you should get so I just gave up on it.

I have a pond where I grow duck weed.  Spring and Summer it covers the entire pond.  Weekly we harvest it and feed it as a supplement to the Tilapia.  They go nuts for it.  Every Fall/Winter the pond gets very cold and the duck weed dies.  Every Spring it comes back.

We feed them watermelon also.  The breeding colonies play soccer with it.

Phil, if you have extra duckweed in the summer scoop it up and freeze it. You can serve it up in the winter. Make trays about 1/2" deep and it's easy to break off for portioning.

Thanks Jeff!

I use Extra 350 from Rangen, the guy who mixes the feed said if he were raising fish to eat thats the off the shelf formulation he would pick. I blend up roots and tops bound for the compost as fish treats, as well as a bait light for bugs in summer.
