local aquaponics tours this week!
There are free tours of two aquaponics operations in the Sac region this week:
Elverta:
Thrive Acres
Vonita Murray
May 15 and 16, all day
Commercial hybrid system
"We have a combination of hybrid wicking beds we flood irrigate and deep water rafts. We lease land from a Sturgeon farm and have everything outside in ground rafts. Very new and very bare bones to get started!"
Yuba City:
Marshal Wilton
May 15, 10:00 to 5:00
Backyard hybrid system - 4 separate 200 gallon systems
It's not clear to me, but I'm guessing you just show up sometime in the given time frame, rather than needing to stay for the entire time frame...will try to find out.

Heard from Vonita about her tour(s): "They are supposed to modify it to say 9-3...and the tours are short."
I'm planning on going to both Elverta & Yuba City tour sites Thursday AM; if anyone cares to join me, let me know. I have not yet finalized my transportation details.
