If anyone wants to borrow a tiny, very basic aquaponics system to show to school groups or whatever, I put one together using a 5-gallon aquarium that was gathering dust. Gravel bed (constant flow, not flood-and-drain) sits on top of the aquarium; has an air pump too. Photo below shows dry set-up; not shown is the bag of lava rock to fill the grow bed. Everything fits into the aquarium for transport. I have a little 1/2 page info sheet you could use with it too.

Paul, this is soooo cool. I love it. What a great idea! (Should I expect any less from YOU?) So sweet of you to offer this!!
Hey, Paul!
Thanks for setting this up!! I would love to borrow the set-up ASAP, to use at Erlewine Elementary, as part of their watershed education programming through our Eco Club!!!
School starts next week, so let me know if the system is still available. THANK YOU!!!

Tim,
Any time. Next scheduled use is November. Just let me know when you want to pick it up.

Paul, the system just started cycling at OW Erlewine Elementary today. Took it in yesterday with much fanfare, but the pump malfunctioned.
Took it home to repair last night, and it made a big splash in my daughter's 5th/6th Grade Class. We placed native horsetail, sedge & smartweed, and will bring in some fish in a couple weeks. Thank you again@ This system really makes our "river-friendly landscaping" curriculum I do come to life!!
