I am interested in obtaining a couple different types of crayfish for my system. Red claw and the parthenogenic Marbled Crayfish.
I found a source of marbled crayfish in Dallas, but with his price of $25 for 3 and the price of gas to get there, I would have over $20 for each animal. That is just a little steep to rationalize.
I have multiple tanks to use so I would also like to try some red claws. I introduced the regular Louisiana red 'mudbugs' and have probably still have some in my fishtank (swimming pool). I know of one under one of my raft growbeds.

Ifr you find red claws let me know.
I was going to write you because I knew you were looking also...
Thanks Pat
I am surprised just how difficult it is to find reasonably priced sources of these crayfish. Shipping is a killer when you do find animals for a decent price.
regular crayfish or red claws?

I was talking red claws plus marbled (although I may have since found a good source for those). Shipping seems to be the killer. I have not had enough production of anything yet to convince my wife my AP system has been worth it.
What few veggies I have harvested has been pointed out to grow better in my dirt garden. I'm hoping I can get some fish to harvest size so I can start showing the benefit.
I hope you do. I have not bought a tomato all summer long, and that has been nice and at $1.98 a pound here it sabved me money (t the store lol).
try aquabid for marmokrebs.. i got my first marm for free with an order of "scuds" (and all it took was 1!)
one thing to be aware of, is that native crayfish can carry a disease that isn't fatal to them but it can be fatal to "imported" crayfish like redclaw..
I have a girl willing to provide me with up to 15 for a decent price including shipping. I just have to wait a month or so. Still no idea where I might get red claws.
I am thinking I will wait until early spring next year before I resume my search for red claws. I would hate to pay a premium for a few specimens only to have them die on me...
