What did this setup cost? I'm trying to approx. the cost for a system proposal I'm putting together. Is this a 24/7 setup or just in emergencies?

2  235 watt PV Schott panels

1  C60 Amp Xantrex Controller w/faceplate 12/24 vdc

1 300 watt Go Power Pure Sine Wave converter 24 vdc

1 1500 watt Go Power Pure Sine Wave converter 12 vdc

I started with a 12vdc configuration changed to 24vdc.

I run 2 fish tanks and 2 grow-beds on solar only. I have a total of 10 active fish tanks. Last night we lost grid power. I changed all 10 bubblers to solar. We were without grid power for more than 12 hours. I slept great and woke-up to feed all of my fish.

Dave:  Please share some details of your solar system and let us know how it's going.

Comment by Dave Story on June 28, 2012 at 10:53am Just setup two of my fish tanks and 2 of my grow beds to use solar energy.

I just wrote to aire dynamics and asked about connecting air line out to storage tanks for later use when wind is down...?? I'll keep you up dated.. and tell me what you find too.. ok?

Dave I doubt you will have the wind necessary to run a windmill.

Check out Tucson's wind

I am old but willing to learn and experiment.

Here in Tucson, we may not have the wind.. but I will try it.

Give me a website to purchase the windmill and acessories.

Just a question to all..

Has or is anyone using windmills to compress air for air lift water pumps?

I have seen some large windmills for aeration but would like to look into newer small scale windmills to compress air to then use in air lift pumps systems. It would could remove the use of electric water pumps and the need for electric air pumps and therefor have little use of solar panels, inverters, batteries etc. reducing the over all costs if a system of windmill, compressed air tanks and airlift pumps.

look forward to all your thoughts, ideas and suggestions...
