Aloha:
On behalf of the Hawaii State Department of Agriculture, the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations (“DLIR”) and the Workforce Development Council ("WDC") and the County of Maui, we'd like to invite you to a meeting of a Workforce Industry Skill Panel focused on the agriculture industry in Hawaii. This meeting will focus on Maui. (Conferences on Oahu (12/14), Hilo (1/24) Kona (3/6) and Kauai (5/11) have been held. Information on those meetings, including notes from those sessions, can be found at www.sesphawaii.com)
This Maui meeting will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2012 from 8:30 a.m to 4:30 p.m. Location will be the Maui Beach Hotel (West Kaahumanu Ave, Kahului) As with prior industry panels, there will be an initial introduction on industry specific skill panels, followed by breakout sessions by the topic areas to discuss specific workforce/industry needs. Please find attached a description of the topic areas, an agenda of the day's events attached and a description of the skills panel process.
The goal of this conference: In order to re-establish agriculture as an essential component for the well-being of our island community, a capable and competent workforce will be required with the ability to fulfill the unique needs of a progressive agricultural industry.
There is no cost to participate in this forum. However, please RSVP by no later than Close of Business June 4, 2012 for the organizers to plan the forum logistics. When RSVPing, please choose which committee you'd like to be a part of. Please note that we ask you to stay in one committee throughout the forum, as the skills panel process requires participation by attendees throughout. We look forward to your attendance at this landmark event for the agriculture industry here in Hawaii.
Please RSVP to stanford.j.fichtman@hawaii.gov. Mahalo for your time and consideration!

Hi Jim. That cucumber looks like a cobra! I was planning to pick up a truckload of cinders from Kihei Landscape on Friday. I could swing by your place to unload some before heading home. I'll give you a call before I drop by sometime in the morning. Is that OK?
