Just starting out, the biggest problem was finding out where to buy the parts needed to construct an aquaponics system on Maui.  Of course, ordering online is always an option, but the shipping cost…Continue

My experience with Aquaponics mostly comes from my previous job as a site manager at Maui Aquaponics. Maui Aquaponics was the biggest Aquaponics system in the state of Hawaii. We had more than fifteen thousand Tilapia running our system and over 6,736 square feet in grow area with our own hatchery. I am currently unemployed and looking for a job on Maui. I am not totally stuck on working with just Aquaponics. I love working with all types of organic farming and sustainable establishments. Also I have a parcel of 1 acre of land that I have permission to use for Aquaponics that has all the most important resources for a successful system, but have not come across the funding yet. I have been in search for a source of funding for about a year now and have not come across the right resource. If anyone knows a source, or knows of a possible job for my qualifications please let me know. Mahalo for your time, Max max.ferris@gmail.com 808-870-8189

Prawns ate my plant roots.  Tried growing Marchrobrachium rosenbergii, the Giant Malaysian river prawns, in my aquaponics growing troughs with disastrous results.  If interested, see my blog at:

I followed up and the person in charge of working with the website removed the bartering page until more defined rules can be established. The page was not utilized much, so it may be left off. Not sure how the post got there, but everyone responded quickly to correct the situation. I can assure you everyone has the best intentions that administer the site, nothing to beware of. All the contributors to the site are fellow members and volunteers. I think someone just slipped this through on the barter page.

Aloha Al,
Have you notified them and told them to remove the listing? Since the bartering page is a new part of the website, it sounds like they need to make changes on what is listed. I'll pull that post from this page. I almost checked by sending you an email, but then thought it would just be an extra step and trusted the post to be accurate.

Hawaii GMO Documentary

This is a time commitment, because it runs for 43 minutes, but it's very well done. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZgrOFjhzdg&feature=youtu.be
