Aquaponic Gardening

A Community and Forum For Aquaponic Gardeners

I'd like to start documenting the progress of who's doing aquaponics and hydroponics in the Denver Metro area.  Pictures, questions, perhaps video (after I work up the $).  The results will be posted in an online newsletter/magazine.

Is anybody interested?

I'm certainly interested and have already posted some pics and videos on this site as well as on my own website at www.coloradoaquaponics.com. It would be great to have you stop by for a visit to the GrowHaus in the near future.

Great idea, Ken! What is the online site?
The URL and hosting have not been purchased, so I am not yet at liberty to say. ;)

JD, thanks for opening up at the GrowHaus. The session was certainly informative, and I look forward to seeing who attends your class on the 20th.

HI Ken, I'm just a rookie but check out out the system I've built during the last week. Its being constructed and tested in Louisville, then sometime in the future will get moved up to the mountains.

I am going to document the buidling and implementation of my system starting this weekend. I don't live in metro Denver, but I would be happy to give a southern Colorado prospective if you want.
How did you know where to mark the gallon lines on your tank?

I can document my AP experiences. I am a complete beginer without a clue.

I'll do it.

I'm a beginer with 2, very little, 27 gallon systems, raising goldfish, tomatoes, chilli peppers, strawberries a snap pea, some cilantro and ...I think that's it. Oh an apple tree sprouted too plus hundreds of cottonwood seeds are sprouting.

I do plan on expanding to a few 300 gallon systems but my focus is to perfect Aquaponics in small environments. I live in a town home where six units are in the same structure, sharing the same strip of backyard and dream of the day when we can come together and feed ourselves.

I also plan to use aquaponics in landscape designs. Imagine waterfalls, ponds for your fish, streams filled with pea gravel and vegetables, all built into the natural landscape. No more unsightly tanks, tubs, pipes etc... All will be hidden by trees, shrubs and prenials or burried in the ground.

I'm not in Denver, but not too far from there (Colorado Springs).  I have a fairly new system.  I started plants about a month ago and just got my fish (trout) yesterday.  Here's a link to the blog I've started, which documents my progress.  http://coldwateraquaponics.blogspot.com/

Here's a picture of my setup.  It's indoors, and the closest window faces east, so I guess I'll need to add some supplemental light soon.  I'm interested to hear about other people's experience in Colorado, since most of what I've found online is in Australia, Hawaii, CA.
