Cold weather update - spoof

Well folks it is cold today. I don't need a thermometer to tell me this. It is reliably reported the a brass monkey was stopping traffic, asking for a propane torch! Also, the local well diggers have packed it in!

Just goes to show that a little humour can have a big effect on the winter outlook.

Hi Ian. It was cold here to but worse than that was the fact that we lost power the night before Thanksgiving and we just got it back. I had the woodstove going so we were nice and warm but no running water... yuck with no shower. I hope your greenhouse is doing well. I'm glad to see some humor 'cause the last two days weren't so humorous. Take care...

Hi Jack, yup no power and running water can be a bummer. That's a regular occurrence where we live. So we have devised ways to help mitigate some of this. a) an old stripped down 40gal hot water tank set on top of the woodstove, plumbed, pumped and valved to the house hold system. b) An extra bathtub always filled with water. Seems like overkill, but the wife absolutely refuses to be without hot water, sooo......happy wife, happy life! for me anyway. BTW, I'm getting another 12v pump to circulate. The one in the green house does a great job and costs me virtually nothing to run as it is hooked to a 45w solar panel and a few old batteries that have some life in them.
